“The friendly little kennel in the country.”
Aurora Kennel has been caring for your pets since its establishment in 1993. Owned and supervised by Aurora Veterinary Clinic, we provide unprecedented care and support for your pet(s) while you are away.
Aurora Kennel has 43 indoor/outdoor runs, where each dog has his or her own space, a bed, a blanket (if permitted), food and water. We have different sized runs and can accommodate extra large dogs, as well as multiple dogs from the same family who wish to stay together.
Our buildings are fully heated and air conditioned for your pets’ comfort. We adjust their time outside according to the weather so they are as happy as possible.
Each indoor stall has it’s own bed and dishes. We supply comfy bedding for dogs who do not chew them, or you may bring your own.
Aurora Kennel now offers playtime for your dog(s) in our 1,600 square foot, fully enclosed play area. Playtime consists of 20 minutes of one on one time with your pet and one of our highly trained assistants. Only dogs who live together may play together. We supply a variety of toys, including balls, Frisbees, tug toys and lots of extra lovin’. In the event of inclement weather, playtime is moved indoors. You can schedule playtime as often as you’d like: once a day, twice a week, or whatever fits your dogs’ needs.
Note: Dogs must have a negative stool sample in the past six months to be eligible. Additional charges do apply.

Beds / Bedding
Our mainstay is a plastic platform bed which keeps your pet off the ground and allows air to circulate underneath for temperature control. We supply bedding, like blankets and our new Cuddle Mats if your pet agrees not to chew it up. Please let a staff member know if your dog is a chewer as it can result in the need for medical treatment if any bedding is ingested. We reserve the right to charge you for excessive damage to our beds.
We will administer any required medications. Most pills and liquid medications will be at no additional charge, but a charge will apply for difficult pets, ear/eye treatments, or injections. Diabetic management is an additional fee but we cannot take diabetic pets who are not good eaters. If we cannot get your diabetic pet to eat we will contact you and determine a course of action. You or someone you trust must be reachable if your pet is a diabetic. All medications must have proper labeling with complete instructions.

“Aurora Kennel has been our home away from home for our pets for over fifteen years. Our dogs are like family to us and their care and well-being is of utmost importance. We had tried other kennels prior and none of them returned our dogs as happy, healthy, calm and content. The staff are always pleasant, courteous and extremely accommodating. Our Akita-Shepard, Buddy, was a large dog (100 lbs.) with special needs. He was diabetic, blind and required insulin shots morning and night. I was his personal care taker. I hated to leave him, however, there were times I had to go out of town. Aurora Kennel has systems and procedures in place to care for pets with special needs. They provided all the love and care for Buddy that I provided and he always came back home happy and in as good of health as when he left. For this I will always be extremely grateful. Aurora Kennel is located in a quiet country setting and has a large artificially turfed play area, well maintained and fenced so the dogs can enjoy room to romp. I highly recommend Aurora Kennel to anyone I know that needs to board their pet.”

“I have been taking my little Max, a shih tzu-terry mix, to The Aurora Kennel since he was 10 weeks old. I travel for work and I have complete trust and faith in The Aurora Kennel. They love my Max and make him feel right at “home”. Their compassion for the animals is wonderful. They make sure your pet gets play time in, hugs, and love. Special diets, medicine, health concerns, whatever the issue or concern you have, they make sure special instructions are carried out. The kennels are clean and well taken care of. They get their own little soft mat to sleep on. You can also bring in your pets favorite toys, blanket, treats, and food. Just like they were at home! They treat each animal as their own. I have been bringing Max to The Aurora Kennel for almost 2 years now, he’ll be two in December, and Max and I are totally happy there. When I am away for my long trip, 10 days, they send me emails, texts, sometime pictures, so I can see him happy and playing. All the care takers there become family, Auntie Susie, Auntie Ellie, Uncle John, and the list goes on. Max goes right to them. I can’t say enough about them. I would recommend The Aurora Kennel, and have, to anyone who is looking for a loving, caring, trustworthy “home”, while you are away, or just for the day!
If I had to use one word to describe The Aurora Kennels– AWESOME!”
